  1. l have checked the FVRDE LEDGERS there are a few BERLIET trucks listed but no BERLIET TBU also my my list of 419b history cards in the ER SERIES there is no card for 43 ER 39 this list only goes up to june 2003 of those in the archives at BEVERLEY the RLC MUSEUM may have it since the museum at BEVERLEY closed but l doubt it
  2. ADRIAN l had a young lady come to work in the workshops before going on to university with the plan to join the REME after doing a degree in engineering l gave her the project of overhauling the jeep and she did a first class job freeing off all the parts and colour coding the parts when she finished l the helped her power the the parts showing the firing order by stripping spark plugs and fitting small bulbs which light up when the engine rotated the drive train all could rotate and four wheel could be engaged all powered through a transformer
  3. This is interesting over the years the museum of army transport collected a number of instructional vehicles a eager beaver champ jeep and a few motorcycles plus a range of engine's were there photographs NO why because most were only displayed for a short time my idea was one day to have a space given over to them. The only photograph l know of is on this forum when the museum closed there is a shot of some of the engines in the storage area l have been looking for a photograph taken at Bovington at the RAC center among the instructional vehicles which has up to now not turned up Finally the subject though interesting l think not many people would bother taking pictures of these items
  4. IF you are sure it served with the RAF HENDON may help the RLC cannot help on vehicles sold between 1945 to 1950 as there records mainly show wartime vehicle vehicles with the post 1950 new style. The Chilwell list shows that series of allocated numbers to the HUMBER CAR UTILITY 4X4 . Any of the HUMBER HEAVY UTILITY sold between the 1945 - 1950 were all shown by census number but not by branch of service identification there are quite a lot shown in catalogues of this period and post 1950 the newer style all covering these periods also the civilian numbers if not in military use THE amendment list does not show that these were transferred to other branches only the series add to the 1944 Chilwell list post 1944
  5. a large number of MATADORS were renumbered in the 17XXXXX series after going through workshops also some were renumbered from the YY TO RB/RD/RH series
  6. it looks like it was owned at one time by ROYAL BLUE the only company that may fit the bill was a bus company
  7. the answer from NOEL sums it up 23 base workshop were it was rebuilt was at WETTER GERMANY
  8. it's wartime number was H1760933 as to it's military history it has not survived
  9. RON l am a bit loathed to suggest this but have you tried to pour a little petrol straight in to the carb to see if it fires l know you will have checked the flow of petrol
  10. have you checked the carbon bush in the center of the distributor cap
  11. while having a tidy up of some boxes of clansman stuff l came across a number of unopened boxes labeled headset-microphone nsn 5965993302287 p number14450200 any ideas of which radio there for
  12. this is my thoughts the younger generation are not able to afford the cost of wartime vehicles so they do not appeal to them. though a few would love to own one and some will buy a ex military landrover because they can use it as ever day transport. My own view on posting vehicles that are been restored is most of the ones l do are for customers they pay for that and if they want to post pictures of them that is their 'right l get my pleasure from known that they are happy with my efforts
  13. there are a number of options when supporting vehicles off the ground axle stands which need to be checked blocks of wood or the one which l would chose concrete solid blocks A number of things has been tried with tyres on vehicles that are static and out side one was to fill with a foam painting does not stop the deterioration as there are a number of factors that also effect them out side l have had a lot of experience with vehicles inside and outside in a long term static role .
  14. the symbols look like full and dip so could be as simple as PUSH DIP SWITCH
