  1. The No.8 is still very much in use by cadet forces, even though it is obsolescent. A replacement has been discussed for many years, but nothing has come of it so far. There are still rumoured to be large stocks of unused parts for them as well. I have seen a No.8 with 1970s stamped woodwork that still looks as new as the day it left the factory where it hasn't been touched by sweaty cadet fingers!
  2. It says it's a Satchel: Alarm Set - made by Racal according to this link: http://www.nsn-now.com/Indexing/PublicSearch.aspx?QString=47-9000/b
  3. All good fun, and totally pointless!
  4. I'm fairly sure I can, though they might be part of the ramps. My theory still (sort of ) works if they are though.
  5. I guess if we knew what you were trying to achieve, there might be an easier way of doing it!
  6. Could you create a grid file, then print it to pdf? Will Paint open a pdf file? Failing that, download GIMP - it's like a free version of Photoshop.
  7. Ok, here's a theory: It's on a bit of a hill. They chocked in front of the trailer to stop it rolling downhill They also chocked to the rear to stop the trailer from rolling toward the tank while winching. As winching started, the trailer rolled back slightly and the rear chocks skidded until they found purchase on the ground. When the tank left the ground (just before the photo) the trailer rolled back toward the front chocks slightly (it may even still be moving in the photo...) Any good?
  8. There is due to be a Para smock in MTP, but made of a different material. There's a whole thread about the new kit on the ARmy Rumour SErvice website: http://www.arrse.co.uk/military-clothing-boots/157565-personal-clothing-system-replacement-cs95.html
  9. It is a shame that there weren't more members of the public there, as it is a very good museum. Perhaps that's down to the apparent lack of advertising? I don't remember seeing anything in the local press, or any banners in the local area... I run an Air Training Corps Squadron not too far away and if I'd known about it I'm sure we and some of the other local Squadrons would have arranged a visit.
  10. Oh dear! I was reading the thread thinking that I had missed out on something decent virtually on my doorstep, but having read the last post I don't feel too bad after all! Did anyone else attend, and if so, what were your impressions?
  11. I'll show my ignorance here and ask "what's a Mk5 SBR?" For all I know, you were had at £5
  12. Oh, and WD40 doesn't have silicon(e) in it!
  13. I reckon it has to be FFE, otherwise he'd probably have to use both arms to carry it!
